The First Visit

Your first visit to our office will almost always be for the initial complete examination.
Because this appointment is your first direct contact with us, we will set aside at least 1 hour of time so that we can be thorough in our information gathering.
Our receptionist will give you a medical history form to complete and then my assistant will accompany you into the dental operatory. For about forty minutes, we will examine everything about your mouth; the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and jaw muscles, all the soft tissues, the way your teeth function together in biting and chewing, and finally the teeth and gums themselves for any sign of disease. To help in the final diagnosis of any problems, the assistant will then take whatever x-rays are necessary.
Whenever possible, we will give you an estimate and an outline of any follow-up treatments recommended. If it is quite extensive, we will usually ask you to return for a second consultation visit so that we can take the time to organize the best possible treatment plan for you. This will be discussed in detail with you at the consultation.
At any time during these procedures, please feel free to ask any questions you might have about our office or any of the procedures we do. We will be more than happy to answer them.
